'From Paris With Love' Trailer

Posted by Lee Taylor

The film trailer is called 'From Paris With Love', which has a star cast including: John Travolta, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Kasia Smutniak. The director of this film is Pierre Morel.

I have decided to look into how this thriller trailer keeps the audience on the edge and how they are made to keep guessing:

Firstly I can see that the clip uses a blockbuster type layout as there are many huge explosions and shootouts. This is mainly for action type films, however, I feel this can be incooporated into a thriller due add tension to the trailer.

Also I have noticed that the clip uses quick cuts which is a very effect way of bringing the audience into the clip. When this is applied to many film trailers, I could see that the audeince may question certain points in the clip. This is what brings them to the cinema as they want those questions answered.

Finally the fast paced non-diagetic soundtrack used adds tension to the clip, keeping a flow throughout the clip. Also, this music keeps the audience constantly on the edge; this ensures that they keep on guessing what may happen next. This would be an effective feature for my thriller type film trailer, due to the fact that the audience would constantly question what will happen next.

When I consider all the features I have mentioned from the film tariler; I can identify that there are several ways to which a film trailer can be made. A couple of these types of trailer's include:
Fast paced action - This trailer is the best example, audience assumption - A great example of this include 'Law Abiding Citizen, and finally on the edge tension - One of the best examples of this includes 'The Taking Of Pelham 123'.
