Posted by Lee Taylor

I have looked at a feature trailer from the intensive thriller; Grimm Love which was released March 14th 2007. The cast of the film include: Keri Russel, Thomas Kretschmann and Thomas Huber. The director of the film was Martin Weiz.

The trailer below is from the movie "Grimm Love":

I have looked at the first five minute clip from the intensive thriller; The Disapperence of Alice Creed which was released Augaust 6th 2010. The cast of the film include: Gemma Arterton, Martin Compston, Eddie Marsan. The director of the film was J Blakeson.

The trailer below is from the movie "The Disapperence of Alice Creed":

I have compared both clips to identify similar features within films under the thriller genre I have decided to create a film within.

When I consider both of the clip's which I have viewed so that I can compare them so I can spot any common features. When I viewed both I could see  that the music, specifically non-diagetic is a key feature of both clips. I would need to apply these to my clips as it is what makes the clip a thriller, as it adds fear to the audience. Also, both clips develop a feature that brings the audience into the film. Both clips make their audience constantly question the film, this adds to the excitement of the film.

Although there are many common features, several features that are not seen in both can be identified; The second clip, the dioulouge of the characters is limited to the very end of the clip. This can be seen as very unconventional as the first clip, has the characters speaking consistently throughout. This adds tension to the clip, but also brings the audience into the clip as this would be one of the biggest questions on  their lips; why is their no speech?
